Google "Freshness" Update Affects 35% Of Searches

Google algorithm update can affect 35 percent of the searches

Even though Google searches for fresh content, it still isn't enough it looks like and the search engine major has given a push further to its search algorithm updates so that users will get the most recent and the most relevant results.

According to the new tweaks the search algorithms of Google will only look for the recent most results whether it is specified or not by the users in their respective searches.

The web indexing system of Google Caffeine has been complete and this means crawling of Google bots to index fresh content will be faster and the new improvement in the ranking algorithm is expected to give additional momentum to the Caffeine. And it is expected that the new algorithm update coupled with Caffeine can influence as much as 35% of the searches.

For instance if I wanted to search 'SEO Bangalore', I am thrown results that is fresh and minutes old first of the content that is optimized for keyword 'SEO Bangalore.'

The algorithm would be able to figure out if the result is a month old piece or week old or a day old or minutes old and picks the freshest content and throws at the searchers. It’s a welcome update as I don’t want to go to a trash website which may have been optimized for. But there would be exceptions of searches for recipes or wiki how’s or even some asks and answers. The results could be years old yet they will be relevant in the eyes of searchers. So the design aspects of the algorithm have been tweaked and improved keeping these things (level of freshness based on what is searched, That is.

But the new Google algorithm update that’s designed to pick and choose queries that demand fresher results could actually influence 35 per cent of the online queries. So if the Caffeine architecture is designed to quickly crawl and index the huge mass of the web content that is updated every second the new algorithm update selects the queries that require the freshest results.

And website owners and developers already know that fresher the content better is their ranking. That said it means huge work and so much of expense on part of webmasters, and the websites that are often updated will beat the hell out of competition, the algorithm update is sure more searcher centric than the webmaster’s.
