Guide To Creating Content Sites
Having a good content website online is of no use if nobody knows about it. Apart from creating content sites there are certain things to look out for effecting Internet Marketing.
1. Find A Niche
A niche is basically a topic of interest for a group of people that
have share similar interests. The way you can find a niche is
simple. First pick out a few topics that you think might work.
One source is a newsletter you can subscribe to called NicheADay.com,
which is a free resource that sends you a new niche topic every day.
Not to forget forums, ecommerce shopping cart (eBay) categories and
wikipedia make a vast source of information for all kinds of niche.
The niche must be profitable in the sense, it not be just for
selling products, but must be profitable even from adsense point of
view. Even if you're not selling something, some niches pertaining
to medical interest pay better in Google's AdSense program
because they attract a higher cost per click.
2. Do Keyword Research
We need to check out the level of competition of our chosen niche by
doing some effective keyword research.
You can use some existing keyword research tools available on the
internet .
A great free tool can be found at:
http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/
This will give you a list of keywords related to any search term.
If you can afford some money then you can use Wordtracker.com. You
can take the best results from both. The more articles your site
has, the more combinations of keywords can be used in each of the
pages.
3. Buy A Keyword Rich Domain Name
Having a keyword rich domain name, greatly helps search engine
rankings. If you buy a domain name with the exact search term people
are looking for, you will rank higher in Google and MSN. You should
usually stick to .com or .net domains.
4. Create Your Content Site
Content is King. Keep it simple by using simple images and graphics.
Avoid java script, flash or php as much as possible. Use a nice looking template. I get all
of my content site templates from http://www.oswd.org. So once you
have your template, you simply need to start filling it up with
unique content concentrating on keyword rich phrases at the same
time. Each unique content page should include a keyword at least 2
times, the most important keywords being in the <H1> text. This is
basic search engine optimization. Create a html sitemap to list all
your pages. Re-look at your content from time to time to keep it
updated and trim all the unnecessary content to keep it short,
concise and simple.
5. Effective File Names
Now you got your content ready to load them in you html template
pages. One important part here is to name the files right. Just use
the keywords in your file names separating individual words with a
hyphen "-", a good aspect for SEO.
6. Validate your HTML
Use http://validator.w3.org/
to try making your html site code error free as much as possibly
whereby your site would not face browser compatibility issues.
7. Other Sections of your Site
Sections like "About us", "News", "Privacy Policy" etc are as
important as your main Body Content to make your site more
professional.
